Elon Musk's SpaceX has been given five additional astronaut missions, NASA confirmed on Wednesday.

The extra flights, which cost the business $1.4 billion, brought the overall number of crewed missions to 14 thus far.

Elon Musk's SpaceX has been given five additional astronaut missions, NASA confirmed on Wednesday.

For this astronaut mission, an extra $1.4 billion has been contracted to the firm.

NASA's Commercial Crew Program, which carries people and cargo to and from the International Space Station, authorizes further missions.

Right now, SpaceX is carrying out the organization's fourth operational human mission.

Boeing's Starliner ship and SpaceX's Crew Dragon are in competition for Commercial Crew contracts.

While both businesses have already received around $5 billion to create and introduce their individual capsules.

Because NASA's contracts for the program are fixed-price agreements, Boeing has paid $688 million in expenditures related to delays and extra work on the capsule.

The corporation currently plans to launch its first astronaut voyage in February after successfully completing an uncrewed Starliner flight to the ISS in May.

20 flights are offered to cover crewed missions until 2030, when it is anticipated that ISS utilization would be discontinued.
